Popular Nigerian skit maker and actor, Samuel Animashaun Perry, better known as Broda Shaggi, has broken his months-long silence, thanking fans for remaining loyal to him amid his prolonged absence from the public space.
Shaggi’s message came a day after Third Lens published a report inquiring his whereabouts following months of limited public appearances and reduced activity on his social media platforms.
Third Lens had contacted his management on Thursday but his manager popularly known as Penzaar asked to get back to our reporter.
In a message shared on his WhatsApp channel on Friday, the comedian acknowledged concerns over his absence and thanked fans who continued to check on him, support him and wait for his return.
He said their patience and loyalty had meant more to him than he could express.
“To everyone who’s still here… waiting, checking in, showing love, and holding me down even through the silence, thank you. I don’t think y’all truly understand how much that means to me.
“Even when I haven’t been able to show up the way I wanted to, knowing that y’all are still here has meant more than I can put into words,” he wrote.
The comedian, however, did not disclose what had kept him away from the public, saying he was not yet ready to tell his full story.
“I wish I could tell y’all everything right now… but I can’t. Not yet,” he said.
Shaggi added that he had not forgotten his fans and was looking forward to the day he would be able to return fully to the entertainment scene.
“Just know I haven’t forgotten about you, and I haven’t stopped thinking about the day I can finally come back and really be ME with y’all again. I’m hoping that day comes soon,” he said.
The entertainer also promised that when he eventually returns, he would come back “better” and “stronger”, while acknowledging the time he had spent away.
“And when it does, I promise I’m coming back better, stronger, and ready to make up for all this lost time,” he added.
He ended his message with an emotional expression of appreciation for his supporters.
“Until then, please know this from the bottom of my heart. I LOOOOOOOOR Y’ALL SOOOO MUCH. Thank you for staying. Thank you for being patient with me. Thank you for still being here,” Shaggi said.
The message comes against the backdrop of growing concerns over the comedian’s whereabouts following reports that he sustained a gunshot injury in March.
Third Lens’ reports that multiple reports had linked the incident to the Sango-Ota area of Ogun State, where Shaggi was reportedly filming a skit.
The report also noted that the Lagos State Police spokesperson had confirmed that police detectives and a patrol team were alerted after a hospital reported treating a gunshot victim identified as Shaggi.
The circumstances surrounding the reported incident remained unclear, while Shaggi subsequently maintained a significantly lower public profile.
Checks by Third Lens had also found that recorded content continued to appear on his social media accounts at intervals, although his usual frequency of engagement had reduced. His absence from public events, including a high-profile Lagos wedding on August 1, further fuelled speculation among fans and colleagues.
The development prompted fellow content creator, Cute Abiola, to publicly express his longing for Shaggi’s presence, describing him as the “life of the party” and urging him to return.
Shaggi’s latest message, however, appears to offer his first direct acknowledgement of the concerns surrounding his prolonged absence.
