From ‘gunshot’ to silence: Where is Broda Shaggi?

Fans have wondered about the whereabouts of Nigerian comedian, actor and skit maker, Samuel Animashaun Perry, popularly known as Broda Shaggi.

The comedian has not been seen publicly since he reportedly sustained a gunshot injury in March this year.

Checks by Third Lens on his social media handles showed that recorded contents featuring Shaggi were still being posted on his accounts, but at distant date intervals, up to July 10, 2026, as seen on Instagram.

An earlier post was made on June 11, featuring content advertising Predator energy drink, suggesting that business is still ongoing despite the “silence.”

On June 5, a post was made on the Instagram account calling on leaders to have respect for human lives. The post called for the release of 40 children and teachers who were abducted in Oyo State, signalling Broda Shaggi’s concern for the abductees despite his own welfare being unknown to the public.

Fans who follow the comedian on social media observed that Shaggi usually updated his stories many times at very close intervals, unlike what is currently obtainable.

It is not certain if the posts made after the March incident were being done by his managers to keep the comedian’s pages active, but his whereabouts which is publicly unknown point to the direction.

Known for his funny and dramatic displays, Broda Shaggi easily entertains adults and kids alike, but his “sudden disappearance” from public scenes has raised concerns.

The gunshot incident

What was majorly last known of the musician and comedy sensation was that he was hospitalised after sustaining a gunshot injury.

According to multiple reports in March 2026, the incident happened in the Sango-Ota area of Ogun State.

A PUNCH report on March 15 noted that the incident happened on a Sunday afternoon while Shaggi was filming a comedy skit under the Sango-Ota bridge, but the circumstances of the incident remained sketchy.

While the Ogun Police could not confirm the incident, the spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, Abimbola Adebisi, told newsmen that the police were alerted by a hospital about a gunshot victim in their facility.

She said detectives and a patrol team were immediately mobilised to the hospital, where they discovered that the victim was Broda Shaggi.

“He was seen on a stretcher with an injury to his thigh. The location of the incident is in Sango-Ota and not within our jurisdiction, but the investigation is ongoing,” the police spokesperson added.

Much has not been known about the update on the investigation but the comedian’s “absence” grows louder.

Fans worry about Broda Shaggi

Fans have continued to worry about the welfare and whereabouts of the “party energizer.”

Broda Shaggi’s absence from a high-profile Lagos wedding on August 1 reignited concerns about the comedian’s welfare.

Popular content creator Cute Abiola said, “Broda Shaggi, we miss you,” a day after the Saturday wedding of popular TikTok streamers Jarvis and Peller, which was held on August 1, 2026.

Cute Abiola, who was at the wedding, made a video on his social media handles where he described how much Broda Shaggi was being missed, saying he is the “life of the party.”

Cute Abiola said, “Brother Shaggy, we miss you. All content creators, we miss you. I know that you are not the type that like this type of thing. But if you don’t want your flowers, we will give you by force. We will give you by force.”

“Shaggy is the life of the party. Anywhere Shaggy steps in, you know that if the energy was 100 before, it’s going to be 200. Shaggy, I miss you. I miss you. We love you both, actors, music, everybody. We miss you being outside. Shaggy, come back soon. God will not shame you. I love you so much. All of us love you so much. All your colleagues love you so much. On behalf of everybody, we love you so much. You will live long, Shaggy,” he said in an emotional message while congratulating Peller and Jarvis.

On X, @Trilogygpuh detailed that the situation remained unclear amid conflicting accounts and limited police confirmation since Shaggi was reputedly shot.

“He went quiet for months (death rumors later proven false). He resurfaced on Instagram in late July signalling recovery, but has stayed low-profile since. Fans miss his usual energy,” the user wrote.

@DGNaija wrote, “We miss the party energizer. Where is Broda Shaggi?”

Broda Shaggi back?

Unconfirmed rumours on social media shortly after the Saturday wedding claimed that the skit maker was back.

@Teeniola Broda, while posting a video of Broda Shaggi, wrote, “Shaggi is back on set. We don miss this man oo.”

While some users dismissed the video as being old, some wished it were true. Other fans prayed for the comedian under his posts, wishing him a quick recovery.

@lanreydey4U wrote, “Shaking my head. Some people’s presence just brings a different energy. The internet has definitely missed Broda Shaggi’s vibes and comedy.”

@ZikMDHQ said, “If it’s true, good to have him back, the media stream missed him.”

A fan of Broda Shaggi, Michael Alabi, said it seemed the comedian could be really sick.

“It seems the guy is seriously sick. I think so because he was not at Peller’s wedding,” Alabi told our reporter.

But Peller and Jarvis’ wedding was not the only place Shaggi had not been seen; he had also not been seen almost anywhere public, with some believing he is keeping a low profile.

Efforts to reach Broda Shaggi’s management proved abortive as of the time of filing this report.

When contacted, Broda Shaggi’s manager, Olufemi Oguntamu, also known as Penzaar, asked to call one of our correspondents back. He was yet to do so as of the time of filing this report.

A phone number on Broda Shaggi’s social media page did not connect either, while an inquiry sent to an email address seen on the page was also not replied to.

While the condition of the skit maker and comedian remains unclear, one question lingers from his fans, “Where is Broda Shaggi?”
