The Lagos State Government through Health District III on Friday noted that it had recorded improved healthcare utilisation in the first half of year 2026, with 10 of 13 service indicators showing increases compared to year 2025.
Presenting the figures at the District’s Mid-year Data Review meeting held at District III Headquarters, Ikoyi, the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Monsurat Adeleke said the improvements reflected stronger service delivery and community engagement.
She said the key gains included a 20% rise in general attendance, 15% increase in deliveries, and 33% growth in postnatal care visits adding that Epe LGA led with a 102% increase in deliveries, 124% in postnatal visits, and 32% in general attendance.
She stressed that the new family planning acceptors also rose by 13% district-wide. Ibeju-Lekki and Epe recorded 53% and 39% increases respectively, while Eti-Osa recorded a 6% decline.
She said however, the District recorded declines in immunisation, with Measles 1 and Measles 2 dropping by 32% and 46%. Postnatal visits in Eti-Osa also fell by 25%.
Dr. Adeleke directed facilities to investigate vaccine availability, cold-chain management, and missed opportunities and also urged replication of Epe’s strategies in Ibeju-Lekki and Eti-Osa as well as cautioned against drawing conclusions on the reported drop in malnutrition cases without validation.
According to her, our goal is not simply to produce better numbers by the next review meeting but to ensure that behind every improved indicator is a real improvement in the health and experience of the people of Health District III as such the goal of this review is not to apportion blame, but to use the data to close gaps and strengthen service delivery across the District.
Earlier, the Head of Health Information Management, Bolaji Simbo, presented a data titled “Comparing January to June 2025 and January to June 2026.”
The Head of Monitoring and Evaluation Lagos State Primary Healthcare Board, who was represented by Ms Funto Edunjobi also made a presentation.
