Afrobeats superstar, David Adeleke alias Davido, has admitted that Nigerian entertainers, himself included, have failed to use their platforms to speak out against growing injustices in the country.
The global star, in a post shared via X on Saturday, called for public figures to become more vocal.
“I can’t lie we entertainers .. we Dey fuck up, I won’t lie including me … we need to speak up … it’s too much injustice going on .. our country don go 💔🇳🇬,” Davido wrote on X, expressing deep frustration about what he described as a worsening national situation.
The post was shared amid national outrage over the Oyo State school kidnappings, in which scores of children and seven teachers were abducted.
Two teachers have lost their lives to the unfortunate incident as they were gruesomely murdered by the kidnappers.
The hip-hop star Davido had earlier lamented the situation in another X post, seeking divine intervention over the state of affairs in the country, likely in response to the prevailing insecurity.
“I’m weak, God please take control we can’t continue like this … my heart goes out to the victims and family… this is messed up,” he wrote.
Nigerian musician, Falz, also joined civil society organisations earlier in the week in calling for protests over the abduction of the schoolchildren.
