The Inspector General of Police, Tunji Disu, has ordered the transfer of 1,332 police officers from the Delta State Command to five other states in the Southeast amid an ongoing investigation into the extrajudicial killing of Oghenemine in Delta State.
In a telegraphic message dated May 3, 2026, titled “Posting/Transfer SPOs,” the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) listed the names of the affected officers and their new postings.
The officers have been redeployed to Edo, Enugu, Imo, Anambra and Abia states.
This follows public outcry and protests demanding justice for Oghenemine Ogidi, an upcoming artiste who was allegedly shot by ASP Nuhu Usman, who is currently under investigation.
According to Harrison Gwamishu, a whistleblower who brought the development to public attention, the whereabouts of two civilians reportedly involved in the killing remain unknown, while ASP Usman and members of his team are facing prosecution.
