Veteran Juju and Highlife musician Iyun Janet Ajilore, popularly known as Saint Janet, has reportedly passed away after a brief illness.
News of her demise flooded the internet on Sunday as fans and well-wishers reminisced about her bold lyrics, party energy and melodious voice, which earned her prominence within the Nigerian entertainment space and beyond its borders.
A Publisher and socialite, Femi Davies, announced the news early on Sunday in a statement on his social media handles.
According to the statement, Davies disclosed that the late singer died on Saturday.
Davies wrote, “St Janet (Iyun Janet Ajilore), a popular Nigerian Juju and highlife musician known for her vibrant live performances, energetic stage presence, and socially unfiltered party tracks, is dead. She died after a brief illness on Saturday.”
Following the announcement, Tributes poured in from shocked admirers and colleagues, with one calling her the ‘general overseer’ whose unique spark lit up Nigeria’s entertainment scene.
Her death adds to recent losses in the Juju world, leaving many mourning a true veteran.
