The 2014 set of Akure Muslim College (AMC) has held a virtual health lecture aimed at increasing awareness about cancer among its members.

The lecture, organised by the Alumni Medical Committee of the AMC 2014 set, was held on Sunday, September 13, 2026, on the set’s online platform.

The session, themed “Rapid Growth of Cancer in Our Society: Causes, Effects, Prevention and Symptoms,” was led by Engr. Jamiu Azeez, who took alumni members through important information about cancer and the need for early awareness and action.

During the engaging session, Azeez explained the different types of cancer, factors that could increase the risk of developing the disease, symptoms to look out for and measures people can take to reduce their risk.

He also highlighted things people should avoid and encouraged participants to pay closer attention to their health rather than waiting until symptoms become severe before seeking medical attention.

The virtual lecture provided an opportunity for members of the 2014 set to learn more about cancer and discuss ways of staying informed and taking preventive health measures.

The Alumni Medical Committee had earlier urged members to attend the session, stressing the importance of looking out for one another and promoting health awareness within the alumni community.

The initiative forms part of efforts by the AMC 2014 alumni to encourage members to stay informed about health issues, get screened when necessary and seek medical attention early when they notice concerning symptoms.
