The Lagos State Government on Wednesday reiterated its commitment to strengthening primary healthcare delivery through strategic partnerships, as it commissioned a newly constructed Dental and Heart-to-Heart Clinic at Ikate Primary Healthcare Centre (PHC), Ikate-Elegushi, Lekki sponsored by Rear Admiral Olusegun Ferreira.
Speaking at ceremony, the representative of the Lagos State Governor and Special Adviser to the Governor on Health, Dr. Olukemi Ogunyemi, said the government could not do everything alone, stressing that interventions from well-meaning partners were essential to complementing government’s efforts and expanding access to quality healthcare services.

Dr. Ogunyemi commended the Chief of the Naval Staff and the Nigerian Navy for the special intervention, describing the project as a good example of what could be achieved when institutions work together to address healthcare needs. The SA reaffirmed the State Government’s commitment to strengthening primary healthcare centres across Lagos.
In her remarks, the Permanent Secretary, Health District III, Dr. Monsurat Adeleke, expressed appreciation to the sponsor for the commitment to improving access to essential healthcare services by bringing dental and heart-related services closer to the primary healthcare level.
Dr. Adeleke noted that the facility would bring essential care closer to residents while creating greater opportunities for prevention, early detection and timely intervention, particularly in dental and cardiovascular health.

She, however, emphasised the responsibility attached to receiving the facility, assuring that the Health District III would ensure that the investment was properly utilised, adequately maintained and responsibly managed.
She called on members of the community to take ownership of the facility, use it responsibly and support efforts to protect the valuable investment.
Earlier, the sponsor, Rear Admiral Olusegun Ferreira, stressed that the facility was fully equipped to provide the intended services and encouraged the hospital management and staff to sustain professionalism, compassion and patient-centred care. He noted that the ultimate goal of every intervention is to improve the health and wellbeing of residents.
The event was climaxed with the presentation of awards by Rear Admiral Ferreira to the Governor, the Commissioner for Health, the Special Adviser on Health, and the Permanent Secretary, Health District III, among other dignitaries, in recognition of their contributions to healthcare development.
